Sept. 21, 2021 – A vacant and condemned historic building along one of Savannah’s busiest corridors may soon be getting some much needed attention.
The new owner recently submitted a plan to rehabilitate the 3-story building at 302 East Victory Drive for use as a 12-unit apartment building. The estimated cost of the proposed work is $1.2 million.
The proposal is going before the Historic Preservation Commission on Sept. 22. Staff is recommending approval with some conditions.
The building was constructed in 1920 and is a contributing resource within the Thomas Square-Streetcar National Register Historic District and the local Streetcar Historic District.
Bernard Mock, Jr. sold the condemned building in March 2021 for $472,500 to Twin Oaks on Victory, according to the sales record.
