Sept. 10, 2023 – The Savannah City Council will consider an agreement with the Galvan Foundation and the appropriation of up to $500,000 for the acquisition and renovation of the Kiah HouseFind out what else is on the agenda and who else is meeting in the latest Week Ahead.

The Chatham County Board of Elections is meeting Monday.

The Housing Authority of Savannah is meeting Tuesday.

The Metropolitan Planning Commission is meeting Tuesday.

The MPC will consider SCAD’s amended plan for the former freight depot building site at 703 Louisville Road, where the university wants to build a 220-unit student housing complex. The amended plan comes after the MPC voted on July 25 to deny a previous version of the plan due to some concerns about increased traffic, pedestrian safety, impacts to surrounding neighborhoods, SCAD’s tax exempt status and a lack of public access along the Springfield Canal, as previously reported. The commission’s full agenda is now available to view.

The Savannah Historic District Board of Review is meeting Wednesday.

Old Town Trolley’s amended plans to modify the former Bank of America building at Montgomery St. and Liberty street will go before the board. The agenda is now available to view.

The Tybee Island City Council is meeting Thursday.

The Savannah City Council is meeting Thursday.

The city council will consider the Historic Preservation Commission’s recommendation to designate three properties near Forsyth Park as contributing structures within the Victorian Historic District, following the recent petition by the property owners to demolish the structures in order to build an office complex, as previously reported.
