Aug. 7, 2024 – For anyone looking for treasure or an amazing bargain… I never even knew this was a thing. Movie set sales: Have you ever wondered what happens to all the amazing props and set decorations after a movie is produced? Many times, these end up in landfills, or sometimes they are donated to thrift and consignment shops.
With all the current movie productions in Savannah, Film Biz Recycling is an amazing resource to reduce waste and find a home for all these pieces!
Who is doing this, and why?
Film Biz Recycling, which opened in 2017, is a non-profit prop rental house run by Samita “TCB” Wolfe. Movies produced in Savannah can contact her to rent and/or donate to the non-profit instead of abandoning stage costumes and decorations after production.

Here’s a mini story about Samita: A native Georgian from Woodbine, Samita is a film set decorator. She originally moved to Savannah in 2007 and attended Savannah State for environmental science. She has been in the film industry for about 11 years, starting her career in New York. Film Biz Recycling was originally a non-profit based in NY, which deeply interested her. The project was shutting down in Brooklyn due to high rents, so Samita took over the project, moved back to Savannah in 2016, and opened it here in 2017. Her network and community in Savannah allowed her to make this non-profit a reality in this city.
I was mesmerized listening to her. Who knew being connected to the Savannah community and the film industry could bring about such a project? I can only imagine that sorting through and selling/donating all these pieces after a movie is A TON of work. But she’s always up for a challenge.
You can connect with this nonprofit here to donate or rent items. And you can personally follow Samita here to connect with her. When there are pop-up sales, this is where she posts about them!
Let’s get to the fun stuff…
Now that you know a little about Samita, here are the specifics about this Pop-Up Sale: She was hired by the production of the film “Bride Hard” to liquidate their things and recoup some of the storage costs.
Bride Hard is a comedy action film that was recently filmed in Savannah. When a mercenary group takes a lavish wedding hostage, they have no idea what they are in for as the Maid of Honor is actually a secret agent ready to rain hellfire upon anyone who would ruin her best friend’s wedding. Source: IMDB
It stars Justin Hartley, who I loved in “This is Us”. What the heck, Justin? You’ve been hanging out in Savannah? Why didn’t we run into each other? And Rebel Wilson, who is my favorite “I don’t give a F…” kind of actress. Super fun.
To be perfectly clear, this is not a Film Biz Recycling sale. However, the donations will be made with her Film Biz Recycling connections, and this insures the goods stay in our community and out of the landfills.
Samita shared with me that this is also possible thanks to her landlords for Film Biz Recycling: Keith and Darlene Tyler from Monte Carlo Productions. They graciously allowed her to use a big truck and a helper, Billy, to help put this together and avoid her making a million trips in a smaller car.
This sale is like insider-only shopping, but for high-end items with their tags still attached. Some worn by actors in scenes, and others never worn at all.
This is an amazing opportunity to find treasure: bridal-style treasure. For this particular sale, there will be lots of formalwear and elegant set clothes, including items like $1400 wedding dresses (still with tags on!) for just a hundred bucks.
I know… What in the..?! Go get it!
In addition, jewelry, shoes, set decorations, and props from the movie will be available for sale. Two-storage-units worth of stuff in total.
To quote Samita: “There will be something for everyone, and it will be priced to move.”
It is an everything-must-go kind of sale.
This is an amazing opportunity for all interested to participate in some luxe shopping without the luxe price tag. Any items that are not sold will be donated after the pop-up.
