Sept. 20, 2025 – It looks like employees will be serving dollars instead of donuts at 2749 Skidaway Road in the near future, about three years since Savannah’s original Krispy Kreme shut off the neon “Hot Now” sign for good after operating at the location since the 1960s.
A Fifth Third bank will be opening up in a new building at the location, according to recently submitted plans. The bank is one I’m not familiar with, but it has apparently been using 100% renewable energy for all US operations for five years, according to this Sept. 18 Sustainability Magazine article. It was also recently recognized by USA Today as one of America’s Climate Leaders 2025.
With more than 30 locations in Georgia, the Savannah location will be its first in the city, based on the bank’s list of locations.
Meanwhile, Krispy Kreme continues to operate in Savannah on the Southside at 11506 Abercorn St. Get ’em while they’re hot.
