July 29, 2024 – “Do you want to go to Bingo Loco?” If your bestie asks you this, you say yes. Hell, if your significant other, third-date boo or cute coworker asks. You. Say. Yes.

Friday night, we hop out of the car and navigate around puddles from the Savannah afternoon downpour. Our white tennis shoes are unscathed, but everyone waiting in line outside of Victory North compliments our bright matching halter top rompers with knee high rainbow socks. We head up to our mezzanine seats, which are perfect for shorter drink lines, people watching and extra dance space.

This isn’t a rave or straight-up club so the attire varies. A gray-haired lady with a purple and black boa. The gorgeous thirty-something with a long flowy cheetah print skirt. Guys wearing funky designed button-ups. My favorite are the ones wearing anything shiny or sparkling like glitter.

In my twenties, I loved to dance at the club. Now I’m in my forties, a single mama and adulting in survival mode. As I sip on my double vodka with pineapple juice, I shake my ass to Britney and drop it a bit to Snoop Dogg. When I need to take a breath the Bingo Loco hosts follow it up with witty commentary and calling numbers.

I pull out my bifocals circling each number called on my bingo card. All you need is five numbers in a horizontal row for bingo. There are no letters, which is a saving grace for us that like to get a little tipsy. Every number called will be on your card. So even if you aren’t winning, it feels good to circle a number each time.

I like my bingo simple. After the first winner, everyone goes for two horizontal lines in a row and then a third. The bingo pamphlet has three bingo cards with three games played on each one for a total of nine bingo games for the night.

The first round of bingo was a tie. So naturally at Bingo Loco a lip-synch battle is the tiebreaker for a beer helmet. Everyone sings along to Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’ as two ladies battle it out on stage. Other prizes won were an air fryer, pink flamingo donut float, large teddy bear, guitar, life-sized Snoop Dogg cut-out and a pink dildo. Don’t diss the dildo though because the lady that won it also won the grand prize: a trip for two to Las Vegas.

I had shots with a tiara wearing birthday girl, tested out my knees to 90s music and got another drink when number 55 was called prompting the hosts to play Nickelback. Even though I didn’t get the chance to be foolish on stage or win any color dildo, I was definitely wild for a night.

If you are down for a crazy night, the next Bingo Loco event at Victory North is September 14.
