No Kings is a peaceful national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration and elected officials, including Rep. Earl “Buddy” Carter, for refusing to push back against rising threats to civil liberties.

“The ACLU of Georgia is proud to co-host and collaborate on No Kings protests across the state, this time in Savannah as well as Atlanta, joining our colleagues who are demonstrating across the nation. The ACLU continues to build power in opposition to the unconstitutional actions of the Trump administration,” said Sarah Hunt-Blackwell, First Amendment Policy Counsel at the ACLU of Georgia. “Politicians at every level of government continue to try and crush dissent, but on Oct. 18, Georgians across the state will mobilize with one goal in mind — Resistance.”

In June, millions of Americans peacefully took to the streets and declared with one voice: No Kings. Since then, the administration has doubled down on its authoritarian actions, and a second global No Kings mass protest is now planned. As of early October 2025, over 2,500 protests are scheduled across all 50 U.S. states and internationally — expected to be the largest single-day number of protests in American history.

Trump’s MAGA Agenda Continues to Fail Coastal Georgians

An ICE raid at a Hyundai electric vehicle battery plant near Savannah resulted in the detention of approximately 475 people on September 4, 2025 — most of whom were lawfully present. The nation’s largest ICE detention center is being built in South Georgia while unexplained deaths in existing facilities continue. Additionally, Trump’s economic policies — from tariffs to the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” — are driving price hikes for food, electricity, healthcare, and retail products for all Georgians, while threatening clean energy and manufacturing jobs like those at the Hyundai plant.

“On No Kings in June of this year, more than 3,000 coastal Georgians marched peacefully to reject Trump’s strongman politics and corruption,” said Suzanne Potts, Co-Chair and Outreach Director of Coastal Georgia for Democracy. “Unfortunately, the abuses of power have deepened and since that time American cities have been invaded with federal forces, more people have been unlawfully disappeared by masked ICE agents with no due process, voting rights are threatened, and free speech is under assault. On October 18, Savannah will join all of the mass mobilizations around the world to show a visible, nonviolent, national rejection of this constitutional crisis.”
