Editor’s note: While reviewing building permits, I come across the occasional film permit as well. I figured residents may be curious to know when they may see Savannah on the big screen, streaming channel or television show. Below you will find my latest compilation of upcoming or recent projects featuring our city.
The Accursed
A horror movie titled The Accursed received permits to film at Bonaventure Cemetery, 501 East Huntingdon St. (pictured above) and a couple other locations in September. The movie, which includes actor Mena Suvari, is about a young woman who is forced to face her past, while navigating mysterious connections to her mother’s death, according to IMDB.
Showbiz Moms & Dads
Showbiz Mom and Dads was issued a permit to film at Laurel Grove Cemetery in September. An article in Variety says the former Bravo’s series is coming to E! with “all-new bigger-than-life parents of budding stars.” This time around, the featured kids will not just include dancers, actors, models and musicians, but also social media influencers, according to the article.
Matador Network
Last month, a permit was issued to the Matador Network, a travel website that says its mission is to empower a diverse generation of modern adventurers to share their stories and travel fearlessly. Matador funds and produces original premium shows and mini-documentaries about people from around the world, as well as some global citizens from a 600-person Influencer team, according to the site.
Family Dinner
A permit was also issued in August for Family Dinner, which is part of the Matador Network. Host Andrew Zimmern visits families across America to explore how the cultural, regional and historical facets of who we are inform what and how we eat, according to the show’s web page.
See other film permits were issued in Savannah in the July compilation.
And in case you missed the story, a film studio is being planned for west Savannah.
