Feb. 26, 2024 – The last year has been a big one for local nonprofit Loop It Up Savannah, and the organization is looking forward to celebrating strides and highlighting its arts-integrated youth enrichment programs at its annual fundraising event, Soup It Up for Loop It Up.

This year’s Soup It Up will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, 41 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Tickets and event sponsorships can be purchased at www.loopitupsavannah.com

“Soup It Up gives our friends, family and supporters a wonderful opportunity to come together to support, celebrate and learn more about the work of Loop It Up Savannah,” said Molly Lieberman, founder and executive director of Loop It Up. “This year, we’ll be doing a deep dive into each of our programs, and guests will have a chance to experience the magic of Loop It Up first hand at the event.”

Through partnerships with the Savannah Chatham County Public School System, Loop It Up provides three core programs – Mindfulness Zone, Looping Literacy Together and STEAM Dream – to more than 40 schools through Savannah and Chatham County.

Loop It Up also provides after-school enrichment in partnership with the SCCPSS 21st Century After School Program at 24 schools. In recent years, the nonprofit’s reach has broadened to include a school in DeKalb County and an early learning center in Colleton County, South Carolina. And in 2023, Loop It Up struck a partnership with national nonprofit Big Green to develop or expand school gardens at 30 schools in Chatham County.

“In the past year, Loop It Up has grown programmatically, and additionally, we have found ways to align our work with cross-community collaboratives and coalitions working on making positive system changes throughout our region,” Lieberman said. “We have been able to define and refine our role in big-picture work surrounding literacy, mental health and wellness, as well as food access in the Savannah community and beyond.”

Soup It Up for Loop It Up is the culminating fundraising event for the nonprofit’s Annual Campaign, which runs from Giving Tuesday in November to March. The event gives Loop It Up the opportunity to showcase its core programs in literacy, mindfulness and STEAM, and also highlight its work and achievements of the last year with supporters.

“Loop It Up’s Annual Campaign goal this year is $150,000, which will help us sustain and support all of our programs. We have over 25 paid members of our staff and countless volunteers who keep the Loop It Up dream running throughout the week at over 40 locations throughout our community,” Lieberman said. “The funds we raise will support our team with the resources they need as we continue to provide opportunities for creativity, possibility, joy and learning to thousands of young people in the coming year!”

This year’s event wouldn’t be complete without, well, soup of course. Collins Quarter, B. Matthew’s Eatery, Franklin’s, Late Air, and Dottie’s Market will be serving up a variety of different soups. Coffee.Deli and Casa Guava Cuban Cafe will provide appetizers and light fare, and sweet treats will come from Lulu’s Chocolate Bar.

“We believe that being a true local business means reinvesting the dollars that our guests spend in our restaurants back into the community that we all live and work in. Loop It Up embodies this ideal for us,” said Jennifer Huskey, co-owner of The Gaslight Group, which includes B. Matthew’s Eatery.

“We have guests and employees whose children benefit directly from the work that Loop It Up does in the schools. We have guests and employees who volunteer with Loop It Up year after year.

“We are proud to support an organization that is truly benefitting our entire community each and every day,” she said. “We appreciate their dedication to making our community a better place to be and plan to continue supporting them as long as possible.”

The night will also include music by DJ Jose Ray, and Cecilia Arango will serve as master of ceremonies. The cost to attend is $100 for individual tickets or $150 for two tickets, and a variety of sponsorship levels are available, as well. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased at www.loopitupsavannah.com
