Update (April 23): The Savannah City Council approved an alcohol license for the brewery, Hop Atomica, at their meeting on April 23.
On Oct. 24, the Savannah Zoning Board of Appeals approved a plan to open a microbrewery at 535 E. 39th St. The petitioner, William Glass as agent for GIKI, LLC, intends to operate a small microbrewery and restaurant within the existing building on site.
On Oct. 8, the Savannah City Council approved a zoning amendment that allows microbreweries to be a part of a planned development along East Broad Street from the north side of 38th Street to the south side of 39th street. The 36-unit Savannah Lofts apartment building is part of the development, which was approved in 2010.
The business will offer small-batch beer and wood-fired fare with an emphasis on various food fermentation and curing techniques, according to the Facebook page.
