Nov. 16, 2025 – Moon River Opera is setting sail once again with its wildly popular “Drunk Opera” production, returning this season with Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance on Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22, at Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District.
Drunk Opera embodies Moon River Opera’s mission to “make opera fun again” by pairing classic works with comedic twists and unpredictable antics. The annual two-night event offers two very different ways to experience the show:
Sober Singer Friday – A family-friendly performance where the cast performs Pirates in its most recognizable form—well, as straight as this zany production ever gets.
Soused Singer Saturday – A raucous, adults-only version where performers take the stage already tipsy and descend into comic chaos as the night unfolds.
Last year’s “Soused” performance left attendees howling, with comments such as “I fell out of my chair twice” and “I swear I thought I wouldn’t make it to the restroom” becoming badges of honor for the company’s anything-can-happen spirit.
Audience members may choose one performance—or embrace “Double Trouble” by attending both for the full experience.
Moon River Opera, founded and led by Artistic Director Brenna Dudley, continues to push boundaries in Savannah’s arts scene by presenting opera that’s lively, accessible and unabashedly fun.
