Oct. 11, 2026 – The plan to reopen Club One at its new location took one step closer to reality last week, with the Savannah City Council’s support.
The city council voted on Thursday to approve two alcohol licenses for the iconic nightclub made famous by Lady Chablis and “The Book”. The licenses are for the new location at 302 Williamson St., where the nightclub Elan previously operated. Club One closed its doors in April at the original location, 1 Jefferson St., after nearly four decades and has been working to relocate to the former Elan venue about a block away on Williamson, as previously reported.
The club announced in August that it had parted ways with Pride Holdings Group and would move forward under local ownership led by longtime operators Travis Coles, Trey Coles and Rick Garman, with a reopening expected this fall.
On Thursday, the city council approved separate license applications submitted by Coles and his partners for a restaurant, Out at Club One, and the nightclub. The newly formed ownership group, Don’t Dream It, Be It, LLC, is an inspired reference to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Coles said in March that the decision to relocate was driven primarily by rising rent and the planned renovation of the current building following its sale in recent years.
“They were essentially wanting close to 50 percent more in rent than what we’re currently paying, and if we went with that, we would essentially be in business just to pay rent,” Coles said.
Meanwhile, Club One has been hosting events at other locations. The next “Club One Takeover” is on Oct. 16 at the Wormhole, a “one-night-only” drag show featuring an “unforgettable evening of high-energy acts, stunning looks, and a whole lot of sparkle.”
