March 16, 2024 – I like to look at old newspapers. I recently checked out Savannah Morning News from 1999 and 1973. This is what I found (click on the images to enlarge them:

Jane says:

“See, this is a long parade” -the time Jane Fishman interjected when some visitors were worried about being late to the party. 

Jane knows:

Search your junk drawer for that button that reads “St. Patrick spoke Yiddish” and pin it to the lapel of your green sweatshirt.

51 years ago, it was a great day to be Irish

in 1973, political figures in the parade included Governor Jimmy Carter. It was also the first time the parade included floats, “on a trial basis.”
