Satire by Eric Curl

Aug. 20, 2023What was once SCAD’s Clarence Thomas Center for Historic Preservation is now simply being referred to as what appears to be a dollar sign and question mark symbol.

The building’s new identity has led some to speculate that SCAD is trying to sell the building without marketing it, but that would be silly, wouldn’t it?

The nomenclature amendment comes after the university removed the sign for the 115-year-old building’s former namesake more than a year ago, which came after the university removed student courses from the tax-exempt structure in 2021.

In somewhat related news, Savannah is now to be known simply as SCAD.
