Satire by Eric Curl

Aug. 13, 2023A grassroots campaign by an anonymous candidate seems to be growing in popularity as an increasing number of households are posting the mysterious candidate’s signs calling for civil discourse (in so many words). The message, basically to stop the sh*t show and “be respectful,” seems to resonate with voters seeking productive dialogue among their elected leaders. Many residents are apparently eagerly anticipating the possible revelation of the candidate’s identity later this month during the qualifying period.

“I have no idea who you are talking about” said one homeowner when asked about the candidate’s sign in their yard.

While you await the big reveal, you can keep up with the announced candidates by checking The Savannahian’s City Council Race Tracker.

Editor’s note: Unfortunately we have found this article to be completely inaccurate. Turns out the signs are meant to protect so-called “lawns” a somewhat dated practice in which precious resources are used to nourish and maintain useless weeds as mandated by local government. We have chosen to keep the story as a lesson for our reporters to do some research prior to publication. We apologize for the error.
