Nov. 7, 2025 – School officials have charged local bakers with the responsibility of making up lost revenue following voters’ approval of a school homestead tax exemption on Tuesday. Revenue from cakes, brownies and cookies will replace the decreased property tax proceeds under the plan. Unsold goods will go to teachers as bonuses, students on the free-lunch program and renters who do not stand to benefit from the exemption.
Anyone with concerns about the impact on public education should be relieved to learn that students’ lessons will be supplemented with Artificial Intelligence programs to make up for the anticipated reduction in teachers.
While generally deemed a reasonable plan, some have protested the funding proposal, worried that the dessert menus at their favorite restaurants could be impacted.
“All the bakers will be too busy,” one concerned citizen said.
