Sept. 22, 2025 – The Savannah Philharmonic is proud to announce the creation of the Savannah Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (SPYO), where young musicians can dream big, grow with confidence, and share the joy of music with their community. The newly established SPYO will invite students from the Philharmonic’s String Program and sectional groups to audition on Friday, Sept. 26.
The Savannah Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is the next step for the Savannah Philharmonic’s education programs, allowing students to build on what they’ve learned and grow even further by playing exciting orchestra music side-by-side with friends, learning from experienced instructors, and performing in concerts that bring pride to both their families and the community.
The SPYO will rehearse weekly starting in October, with Savannah Philharmonic’s Music & Artistic Director, Keitaro Harada, conducting two concerts to be held in December and April.
“Placement in the youth orchestra will be based on ability, but the philosophy is to include every child that is interested,” said Amy Wiliams, Chief Executive Officer, “We are excited to continue to grow our educational opportunities for musically talented youth in our community.”
The Savannah Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will have annual tuition, with scholarships available for qualifying families. For additional information, please contact Education Manager, Rosa Batista, via email at rosa@savannahphilharmonic.org.
