March 14, 2026 – A friendship forged through late-night hustle will come full circle this weekend when Bandana Burger hosts Pinky Cole, founder of the nationally recognized Slutty Vegan, for a one-day pop-up event in Savannah.
The collaboration brings together two entrepreneurs who built their brands from the ground up through late nights, creativity and a shared belief in community.
Bandana Burger was founded by William LaFlower, who launched the concept as a spontaneous late-night pop-up in downtown Savannah after a quick Costco run and the idea to feed the city’s late-night crowd. What began as a small experiment quickly developed a following during a 14-month run at the Starland District bar The Wormhole.
Today, Bandana Burger operates from its brick-and-mortar location in Habersham Village, serving customers from 11 a.m. to 5 a.m.
LaFlower said the restaurant’s growth has always been rooted in family. He credits his wife, A’Nia LaFlower, and his brothers, Daniel Hoffman and Matthew Hoffman, with helping turn the concept into a family business.
The restaurant’s recipes are also influenced by LaFlower’s grandmother, Rosemarie, whose cooking on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx helped shape the flavors behind the brand.
LaFlower said becoming a father recently gave the business even deeper meaning.
“When my daughter Alila LaFlower was born, it reminded me why I started all this,” LaFlower said. “Bandana Burger is about family, community and the city of Savannah that believed in us when it was just a late-night idea.”
Years before Bandana Burger existed, LaFlower met Cole in Atlanta while she was serving burgers from a two-bedroom apartment while building what would become Slutty Vegan.
Through The BelFlower Group, an Atlanta-based restaurant consulting company LaFlower co-founded with longtime friend Larry Belton, the pair later became Slutty Vegan’s first consultants.
“Pinky and I are hustlers and visionaries,” LaFlower said. “We both know what it means to build something from nothing.”
For LaFlower, bringing Cole to Savannah is as much about friendship as it is about food.
“Introducing Slutty Vegan to Savannah feels like introducing a friend to your family,” he said. “This city believed in Bandana Burger from the beginning, so sharing that with someone you respect means a lot.”
LaFlower said the event reflects the collaborative spirit of the restaurant industry.
“This pop-up is really a love letter to the restaurant industry,” he said. “The restaurant world is built on relationships, creativity and recognizing the hustle in other people.”
For one Sunday in Savannah, two entrepreneurs whose stories began with pop-ups and late-night hustle will share the grill once again.
“At Bandana Burger we say ‘Good in Every Hood,’” LaFlower said. “It means recognizing greatness wherever it shows up and supporting people building something real.”
