Submiitted by Tharros Place

Nov. 24, 2025 — Tharros Place will host its annual Cocktails for Courage fundraiser on Jan. 23 to support its residential program for survivors of human trafficking.

The nonprofit operates a 24/7 residential facility staffed by trained and licensed professionals who provide trauma-informed, client-centered care to girls ages 12 to 17. The event’s name reflects the meaning of “tharros,” the Greek word for courage.

The fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Oak 36 Bar & Kitchen, 5500 Abercorn St., Suite 36. Guests will enjoy signature Oak 36 Courage Cocktails, available exclusively in January, along with hors d’oeuvres, live music and a silent auction.

Individual tickets are $100. Sponsorships are available at $150, $300, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 levels. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased at give-usa.keela.co/cocktails-for-courage. Chatham Orthopedic Associates returns as the event’s Platinum Sponsor.

Human trafficking — the exploitation of a person for sex, labor or services — affects an estimated 1.5 million victims in the United States, most of them children. Savannah faces heightened risk factors due to poverty, an international port, tourism and its location at the intersection of Interstate 95 and I-16.

Tharros Place, a 501(c)(3), opened a 12-bed residential home in 2023 to fill a gap in services and provide long-term support aimed at healing trauma and building resilience in the youth it serves.
