June 20, 2024 – The Port Wentworth City Council’s consent agenda for Thursday evening includes a 20-year agreement with Oak View Group (OVG) and Zawyer Sports to manage a planned $44 million amphitheater and hockey training arena for the Savannah Ghost Pirates off Ga. 30 and Meinhard Road.

In addition, the consent agenda includes a professional construction agreement for the training rink-amphitheater at the new 150-acre Anchor Park. The recommended contractor, Meyer Najem, scored the highest of five proposals, according to the agenda report.’

Construction management proposals were due last Wednesday and the recommendation comes after a request for proposals was issued on May 13. (The RFP stated that proposals would not be accepted by any firm that did not attend the pre-bid meeting held on May 16.)

Consent agendas are typically approved without discussion, unless added to the regular agenda.

OVG is the management company in charge of operating Savannah’s relatively new Enmarket Arena. The company recently provided the city of Savannah with an independent audit reporting how business is going at the $148-million project funded by voter-approved sales-tax revenue, as previously reported.
