Aug. 17, 2026 – On Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at 4 p.m., the historic Savannah Branch NAACP will host Sheriff Richard Coleman as the featured presenter during its General/Mass Meeting.

The meeting will be held at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 1008 May St., with the Rev. Paul E. Smith, pastor.

Sheriff Richard Coleman will address the Savannah Branch membership and the community on issues directly related to the Sheriff’s Office, including the operation and safety of the Chatham County Detention Center, court and courthouse security, service of warrants and civil processes, community safety initiatives, and efforts to reduce crime and repeat offenses.

He will also share ways residents can work with the Sheriff’s Office to strengthen trust, improve public safety and better protect the community.

Following his presentation, Sheriff Coleman will answer questions from Savannah Branch members and the community at large on these and other matters related to the work and responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office, as time permits.

The meeting is open to the public.
