Satire by Eric Curl

March 31, 2023 – As state legislators prioritize the protection of gas-powered leaf blowers, some inventive residents have taken it upon themselves to come up with a solution to this dire matter. A little-known tool, dubbed a “rake”, is being touted as a breakthrough in modern technology, with a proven ability to clear yard debris without the need for fuel or electricity. Even more impressive, the instrument emits little noise and can be deployed in the morning hours without instigating neighborhood disputes. The “peacemaker” devices, as some describe them, are currently available at home supply stores for $15 and will no doubt soon be flying off the shelves. You may want to get one fast, however. There has been discussion among some Georgia lawmakers to implement a temporary moratorium on their sale in order to fully understand the technology’s environmental impacts.
