Satire by Eric Curl

Dec. 30, 2023 – The Savannah College of Art and Design recently ordered the demolition of the 1960s-era cement silos on Hutchinson Island, after finding the towering structures blocked the view of their new 17-story dorm across the river.

“Such a towering structure should not be allowed to obscure such a precious skyline,” one SCAD official did not say. “It’s bad enough the bridge is in the way.”

University officials were also reportedly upset after SCAD was unable to blow smoke out of the silos, as they have been doing throughout the rest of the city.

In related news, the state is now looking to replace the Talmadge bridge so that west Chatham residents can also have a better view of SCAD’s masterpiece.
