The recent demolition of the abandoned building at 2026 Habersham Street, adjacent to the train tracks, is part of a plan approved on Oct. 23 to construct a multi-family and retail development on the site. The project also includes 2018 and 2014 Habersham to the north. The construction permit application was approved on Feb. 19.
The property was recently acquired by New York-based Habersham Development LLC, which lists its address as 223 Warren St., Brooklyn. The address is the same for 2011 Bull LLC, the developer, property owner of the site where Big Bon Bodega now operates. The developer had preserved a historic one-story building built in 1934 and added three stories that now accommodate four residential units along with the bakery.
