Aug. 24, 2026 — Historic Savannah Foundation and the Davenport House Museum will present a special Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day in conjunction with the Savannah Chinese Association on Sun., Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will be filled with hands-on activities, cultural performances, refreshments and fun for all ages.
One of the most important holidays in many East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the harvest, family reunions and the full moon, serving as a time for gathering together to share food and give thanks. The celebration will also include the opening of the Savannah Chinese Association’s new photography exhibition, “Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes,” at 12:30 p.m.
“We are deeply honored to partner with the Savannah Chinese Association to host a very special Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day at the Davenport House Museum,” said Davenport House Museum Executive Director Danielle Hodes. “We warmly invite local residents and visitors to join us for an afternoon of history, culture and community as we celebrate Savannah’s rich heritage.”
The Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day also honors an important chapter in the Davenport House Museum’s own history. From 1901 to 1902, a portion of the home was occupied by the Chan family, one of Savannah’s earliest Chinese-American families. Through a special partnership with the Savannah Chinese Association, guests are invited to connect with the museum’s past while celebrating a living cultural tradition.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the return of the museum’s acclaimed exhibition, “Old Chan Magic: Chinese Roots, Southern Branches,” which shares the story of the Chan family and Savannah’s early Chinese community.
The Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the City of Savannah.

ABOUT DAVENPORT HOUSE MUSEUM
The Davenport House Museum is the historic 1820 Federal-style home and iconic Historic Savannah Foundation property that began the modern-day preservation movement in Savannah, Ga. In 1955, seven local women joined forces to save the Davenport House from demolition. Today, this award-winning house museum is dedicated to sharing the stories of master carpenter Isaiah Davenport, his family and the enslaved residents who lived in this home overlooking Columbia Square, showcasing period artifacts of life in Savannah from 1820 to 1827.
