Aug. 27, 2026 – The City of Port Wentworth will join VyStar Pavilion and Ice Cove Arena to host 912 Community Day, a free, family-friendly celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, on Saturday, September 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at VyStar Pavilion.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with ribbon cuttings marking the official opening of VyStar Pavilion and Ice Cove Arena, including the opening of the Frozen Anchor Sports Bar and the pro shop. VyStar Pavilion opened its doors on August 1, 2026, with its first ticketed concert. The September 12 ribbon cutting is a separate ceremony celebrating the completed venue complex with the surrounding community.
“It’s a fantastic accomplishment for the city to complete a project of this magnitude. We could not have done it without the support of our partners Zawyer Sports and Oak View Group.” says City Manager, Steve Davis.
Following the ribbon cuttings, the celebration continues with an afternoon of activities including live music, family-friendly activities, games, inflatables and bounce houses, crafts, local vendors, food trucks and a mechanical bull.
Ice Cove Arena will offer free public skating on a first come, first served basis, along with Jr. Ghost Pirates and Sirens exhibitions, figure skating exhibitions, and more.
