April 20, 2021 Update – SCAD announced last week that almost the almost 11-acre project will include a Hollywood-style film backlot, an XR Stage for virtual productions, and indoor soundstages, as reported in this Savannah Morning News article.

June 7, 2020 – The Savannah College of Art and Design has now accumulated three adjacent parcels along Louisville Road west of downtown Savannah, with the $3.4 million purchase of a 6.7-acre industrial site from Turner Enterprises of Savannah on May 29. 

The newly acquired property at 2305 Louisville Road is located between SCAD’s Savannah Film Studios to the west and a 2.84-acre warehouse site to the east that was purchased by the university in October 2019 for almost $1.8 million.

In March. SCAD received approval of a plan to use the warehouse site for additional film production studio space.  A permit to renovate the warehouse was issued by the city in May. 

The development plan comes about six years after the university paid more than $1.6 million for the Savannah Film Studios property, which previously housed Meddin Studios
